Ariana looked at him and smirked, "Hargrid can't even do magic. I am in the seventh year, mind you. So it is less likely for me to get expelled," a dark looked appeared on her face, "Stupid creatures." She grumbled. A smirk came a crossed her face, the seven red-haired family all obsessed with the muggle-borns. "Did you not hear me? I do believe I said there was a man in my house. But he was there for a reason about my father, apparently he did something." Ariana's voice was now protective of her reason, "Why?" Her eyes stayed on the boy in front of her. She crossed her arms over her chest, a slight part of her wanted to tell him, "He was doing some thing, who knows what, but he blew someones yard and didn't even bother fixing it or something stupid like that. Some muggle might have gotten hurt." She sniffed and then shrugged her mind falling on something else important, but guessing, he would ask more questions then she would like answering. Pain filled her eyes, of the past with her brother and her best friend, Seth. Ariana’s lip twitched and her skin was filled with goosebumps.
Charlotte looked at Desideria and smiled smally, “I’m sure she wouldn't even dare hurt your furniture, or your son." Something stuck her worried though, if Blaise took out his wand, what would Ariana do? Once someone pulls out their wand at her, she makes something happen, not exactly sure what it is but it would happen. She felt her eyes on her once she said the thing about Ariana and she sighed, thank god that she couldn't hear her telling another person about her, it was like the end of the world at home if Ariana ever found out, "Well there was this one kid, pure-blood he was Ariana's best friend when they were younger all the way until they made it to their 6th year together. I remember Ariana coming home in tears and a real cold face, as if she was less than pleased with anything, nothing could make her happy. So after a while I found out the boy that she called her best friend, spilled everything she told to him to the death eaters. Who would have known that he was..." She paused, shivering at what happened next, " Well at the end of the year he came to our house Ari looked scared, I not knowing what he was I let them go up to her room, next thing I know I hear a scream from Ariana and her brother, Carter. Everything got real dark, almost cold like, I walked up stairs to only see Ariana holding her older brother in t-tears..." Charlotte was forcing back a flood of tears that were close to coming out, taking in a quavering sigh she looked up at the ceiling, "Carter was dead, and the guy was gone, we’ve never seen him since. A few days after that a man came in mad at my husband because he was furious and he blew up a house and hurt a man, and the house owner came in our house with pure rage and started breaking every single piece of furniture in his sight, Ariana came down and started screaming at him and got in his face pulling out her wand telling him that she would make him live in a world of misery and hurt, and made him just back out of the house because she would always get so close to his face that it looked scary." She blinked, her eyes hard with sorrow and she shook her head and blinked, "I'm just nervous that I won't have anyone left if her old best friend came back to do the same thing to her. Oh how they got along so well. I thought they would be together their whole life." She coo'd like a mother would. Her mind was filled with the horror on her girls face, how she wasn't the same after that, "She is sweet, it's just fury has blinded her."
OCC;; The stories go together :3 -proud-

Blaise shrugged when she said that Hagrid couldn't do magic. Even those who technically could had the chance of being unable to change their course for the future. Neville was a seventh year student at Hogwarts too, and Blaise thought that the coward would be lucky to take over caretaker from Filch whenever he and his cat retired. “Being expelled could be the least of your problems.” He was purposely vague, referring to the school year and the changes that would inevitably take place. Blaise nearly rolled his eyes at her reaction to his query. Next time he wouldn't do the conversational thing and state the obvious, a ploy used all throughout time to get more information! “Of course I knew there was a man in your house. Don't you know what skepticism is?” he asked with annoyance in his voice. “And don't get defensive about me asking. If you didn't want me to ask questions then you shouldn't have told the story in the first place, leaving it with so many details taken out...” He thought that she had wanted to talk about it. Now that she had wasted his time and gotten his interest piqued, he was rather annoyed with her. Since she ended up giving something of an explanation anyway, he dealt with it. “Did he do magic in front of muggles, or what?” he asked boredly, anticipating her acting out about it again.. Because she couldn't read her mind, Desideria was pleased with Charlotte's answer that Ariana wouldn't hurt the furniture or Blaise. Because Blaise would fight back Desideria was more concerned about the furniture... Much of it was irreplaceable, gifts from people, and family heirlooms. One or two of them actually came from her family, too, rather than a husband's! Seeing that a story was coming Desideria led Charlotte to a sitting room separate from where Blaise and Ariana were, but comically with the same sort of drinks which she proceeded to pour to Charlotte without taking her eyes off of her. One thing from the beginning of Charlotte's story stood out to her. “Hold on a minute, dear, what in the world could the Death Eaters be interested in that your daughter would know?” Desideria began to worry. She had specifically avoided ties with people who were under too much suspicion from the Death Eaters. Other than the Malfoys, and that was mostly because they had enjoyed such high status following the drop of charges against them. “And your son, as well, what reason did they have...?” Even though Desideria would hate to lose Blaise she knew that he wasn't foolish enough to get involved with some organization that could get him killed and make his mother worry. Her drink was left pretty much abandoned as all her rapt attention went to this story. They had seemed so lovely, but to be involved in so many dangerous things! [/blockquote]

"Don't act like it's going to only effect me, Blaise." Ariana sneered, taking a step forward. Her face cold and bland, just like that, she lost all hope of telling him something, her mind crossed the one boys face and she almost growled, but not at Blaise. Just at the fact that she let someone get the better of her. Once in a while she would give something small away about herself, but now that she is at the 7th year. She didn't know who to trust, even though she preferred the Dark Lords side than the Order. But she still held grudges. Her eyes still closer to his, a frown pasted on her face like she has always had it there before. "Well don't ask next time after I said it! I don't need to waste my breath saying it twice." She snorted and clinched her fist in her palm. Ariana raised her eyebrow, "Do you think I am going to tell you my whole life story? Sometimes it's better to forget and learn to live by yourself. Nobody helping you. Mind you, I did feel like sharing it to a person. But then if you didn't have to be a smart ass about it, then maybe I would tell you!" Mocking him, anger flared up inside her stomach. Once she heard him speak once more about what happened, her body got tense and she had to take a glance away from him, "Well. No. Only because of Seth..." She muttered to herself in a low tone. Moving her feet slowly on the ground she felt conscious about everything, more wary and self aware. "He did it you know, my old best friend. He killed my brother." She snorted inwardly barely undetectable, but if he listen closely enough to her he should of barely heart. and slumped her shoulders, looking utterly defeated.
Charlotte looked at her and sighed, "I don't know. She has done nothing wrong, probably used her for her weaknesses in life, trying to make her a death eater. I've checked repeatedly for any mark on her, but none. She does have weaknesses that he heard of, easy to take advantage of." Her voice wavered for a moment before heading off onto taking even more, her eyes went cold and wet from the horrid past, "I think that was the way to get to her. Her and Carter were like as close as you could ever get, told each other things. They were a full brain put in two bodies. She would feel bad whenever Carter got ill. So I think that's what was her main weakness. Now that Seth killed him to try to get her, she has become more enclosed with herself and keeps everything a secret, even if I would let her, she would probably hide her name." She blinked her eyes fell on the abandoned drink and then back at Desideria and sighed, "All I want is my child to be safe."

Blaise sneered at Ariana, which was a rare thing because normally he wouldn't allow such an expression to destroy his perfect image. He shrugged immediately after. Of course it wasn't just going to effect her, but had he ever said that it would? However he was acting she shouldn't say something like that. He waited for her to calm down... at least, that was his intention, but she continued to get angry about everything. He hadn't met someone who was so near to blowing their top in a long time, and he could only stare at her mutely for a moment. “You don't need to waste your breath saying more, but you did answer anyway... You really aren't around people often enough. Or you would know the difference between curiosity and polite skepticism.” He took a note to himself to tell his mother later what a nutter she had invited over. “Need I remind you that I never once asked you for so many details about your life? You said something about your mother getting mad over little things, I asked you what, and then you told this long story. It isn't my fault that you are so desperate for a shoulder to cry on that you would use someone that you barely know.” He had secretly been hoping that she had problems with her mother so that he could complain about his too, but she began taking his comments so seriously... He was being more confrontational than usual because he was disappointed. Of course, he more felt like a jerk after he learned that her best friend killed her brother. Blaise didn't know what that was like. He didn't have siblings and wasn't sure he had ever had a best friend, so he couldn't really understand. For possibly the first time all evening Blaise went quiet. Desideria wasn't sure that she completely trusted Charlotte's answer, but she decided to accept it for now. The Death Eaters, when they were interested in someone, were quite persistent. Thankfully she had managed to stay under the radar with her talents. Not that it mattered that much because she didn't often need to use them. “And is your daughter doing well in school?” she asked, mostly because she wanted to compare their situations. Blaise was a good student, not failing in anything... If at least the criminal-minded Slytherins hadn't tried to recruit Blaise she would be surprised. “It seems as though you might have good reason to hide. You don't think that they're watching you, do you? I mean, you said that you needed to move after your son died but there are ways for them to reach you anyway.” She was torn between wanting to comfort Charlotte as she couldn't even imagine losing her son, and wanting to throw them out because she was afraid that the Death Eaters would be watching the house. Was it more suspicious to throw them out? Obviously they weren't trying to recruit either she or Blaise, so... [/blockquote]

Ariana felt tears coating her outer edge of her eyes and she immediately looked away she muttered something that sounded like a thanks but she wasn't even sure what she said. Her face was still pale, but from some reason she had nothing left in her, not even a little thing of anger. It was all washed away from sorrow. Taking in a deep breath she tried to protect herself from her managing to not be stepped all over, "I don't need one..." It was silent soon after she spoke. A tear trickled down her face and onto her bare shoulder, yet after all this she still felt the need to apologize letting out a quavered sigh turning back to him rubbing her eye, "I'm sorry... I didn't realize I left so much out... and then got mad at you for basically everything." Her voice was silent. Thoughts raced through her and she gripped her own arm and she looked down, more tears coming down her face. More silent moments came and filled her head with awkwardness, "So... you seemed a bit peeved at your mom. Care to tell? I promise I won't flip..." She asked. A growl echoed through her stomach.
Charlotte looked at her questioningly, Does she think we are that are death eaters? Her thought echoed through her head and she shrugged slightly, exposing her arms, trying to show her that they don't have the mark, she probably has already seen Ariana doesn't have it, seeing that she only has a sleeveless dress on her. "She is doing well. Not failing," She smiled, a twinge of pride in her voice. Things have been going rather well for her daughter in school and she suddenly frowned, "I believe that if they come in and hurt anyone of my family or friends, I will fight with my life. No reason to hide in fear for me. I don't think they would dare watch over us." She muttered and looked her straight in the eye showing her that she wasn't lying. Part of her wanted to tell her that she wasn't even lying about anything she said and the other part of her just wanted to have a nice peaceful dinner. Her mind wondered for a few more moments and then she blinked, "I wonder how Blaise and Ariana are doing..." Her thought hit her head and she felt the sudden need to go in and check. Her eyes fell on her for a moment and then she shrugged, "They are old enough to be by themselves. I forget how old they are sometimes..." She admitted and then looked back up at her.

Blaise felt relieved suddenly. He hadn't even noticed that he was upset until the moment passed, but the tension leaving him was evident of whatever he had been feeling. He let his mind wander while it was silent for a moment. He had the sneaking suspicion that she might be crying, but as she had turned away from him, he wasn't sure. That mind that was wandering caused his gaze to wander as well. From the slightly dusty paintings on the wall (he noted that he should tell his mother or a house elf about this) to the windowpane that an old bouquet of flowers rested, wilted but not forgotten, the souvenir of his mother's last caller. At last, his eyes returned to her. It was good that she was turned away from him because he forgot to mind his eyes, which wandered to her shoulders. But before he could think more of them she turned back, and he looked up. He was probably right that she'd been crying, by the way that she was rubbing her eye. An apology? Those were almost unheard of in Blaise's life. Admittedly before now it was usually him that started things, so he was expected to apologize. He stared at her awkwardly as he pondered how to respond to an apology. “Well, I hope that it doesn't happen again,” he said without the rude tone that it would seem to call for. And then, she also gave him an opening to speak about the problems with his mother. Had she worded it some other way he might not have decided to after what happened earlier. “How did you notice? It isn't that much... She is overprotective sometimes, and she won't let me leave the house over the summer.” He rolled his eyes. “Apparently she hasn't noticed that it is muggle families that are being killed, not prominent pureblooded ones. I don't know why she is making such a big deal out of it but it tends to get boring staying in one place all the time.” He realized he should consider himself lucky that he wasn't stuck somewhere else. Home wasn't that bad, but he would rather be able to visit Diagon Alley or something. He was an adult now! “If she had her way she would have me stay here until I've married. If not then.” He smirked when her stomach growled. It reminded him just how long it had been since they got here. The house elves really did deserve to be hurt tonight. Desideria looked at Charlotte's arm and relaxed visibly. To think that she may have invited a Death Eater in her house... She laughed a little bit at her own silliness. She had better judgment than that, certainly. “That's good. She could be a good influence on Blaise, as well. Not that he needs one in that sense. He got more O.W.L.s in his fifth year than I would have expected.” She smiled that they should both have such success with their children. It was much more rare than people thought. When Charlotte said that she would fight for friends and family Desideria wondered if she could or would do the same. There weren't that many people that she was close to anymore... A lot were after money and reputation, and she was no different. Blaise, though, she would of course defend him. “I'm sorry. I didn't mean to doubt you. One has to be careful in these times. What happened at Hogwarts, and what is happening everywhere... That's a sign of things to come, I believe. But I don't suspect you anymore.” At least she admitted it eventually, she reasoned to herself. Her head turned in the general direction of the two teenagers (no, adults). “Being older can be a problem in itself. I don't think they are fighting or we would have been alerted to it, but... No...” She shook her head of the thought that followed, then actually laughed. “Nevermind that. Oh!” She set her drink down as a house elf nervously came in to announce that dinner was finally ready. “Shall we get them now, Charlotte?” [/blockquote]

Shrugging her shoulders, Ariana looked back at him. Her pale skin had goose bumps as some part of her felt him looking, but deciding best of it she didn't plan on telling him. Her thoughts began to wonder in the silence, it wasn't like he had to tell her something back. All she really wanted was just a nod or a shrug, but talking was excellent but not at all necessary. Her facial expression dropped into a curious one when he said something that someone to say when a child broke a mothers vase on accident, but no. This was without the harshness and just plain awkward words to fill in the place, but it was a try. Her body shivered as she put a arm around her arm and just nodded not planning on thinking of something that could go with those words. She might of said an apology but it was hard enough on her to say it about something that had her emotions so bottled up on for a year now. Ariana's Gray eyes looked up at him when he asked how she noticed. She kinda did only because she knew the words that came out of his mouth when they first got here, and the way he just was, a boy still in the teens living with his mother. They are always bound to have issues. But none of that seemed that good to tell him except the first part, "When you answered the door. You looked like you would rather be doing something else than be forced down to eat with us." Ariana's voice sounded small but yet she didn't exactly look like the person to have a soft voice. Her eyes automatically rolled when he spoke about over protectiveness. "Ha! Mothers..." She muttered seeing that they had the same problem with them. But what he said about not leaving the house all summer, she felt bad for him. But having a smart brain, she wouldn't let it show that she felt bad...because maybe he would just do the same thing as her, blow up. Really if someone blew up at her, it would just be like yelling at yourself in a mirror. Pointless and unnecessary. Her eyes grew with curiosity, "Could you even go in your yard or something like that? Because that would suck. Even worse of staying under parental vision all summer long. I don't think that life doesn't pause because of what happened and what is happening." Her eyes wondered the room and then back to him. "I think my mother thinks the same. Always after everyone that is on the street." She blinked, just trying to put in a few words so it didn't seem like she was ignoring him. She really wasn't. It was nice to have someone who would have the same kind of mother, and just let your feeling go wild on what they do. Humor grew in her eyes and then she scowled, "I would leave. I wouldn't care what she would try to do. But if I was getting married or was married. I would be out of that house as soon as possible." Ariana eye's lit up when she notice him smirk, maybe he would go in and tell his mother that she was hungry. But yet something held her back on asking, she didn't exactly think it was her cup of tea eating at someone else's house. But she would have to deal with it. Her body turned towards where she heard foot steps coming their way. Her body not even facing Blaise, when she saw it was her mother she let out a small sigh of annoyance, only because she just started to talk to Blaise like a normal person, and it wasn't bad having someone to talk to. But all there was relief, because of the hunger that ate at her stomach that has been empty since the morning.
Charlotte looked at her and smiled at her when she relaxed, suppressing a smirk only because she hasn't even thought of checking her suspicions when she spoke. Her arms were clearly out in the open. Her eyes fluttered towards her own wrists and gave a small shrug when she spoke, "He must be really smart then!" She exclaimed. Having just the amount of O.W.L.s they were given, to have anymore was just crazy in her mind, a child having that opportunity would most likely be one of the smartest kids she would know." I couldn't even be able to see Ariana's face if she got more O.W.L.s than the rest of the students. She doesn't like being the one to stand out, but she is proud of her grades that she earns." Her face fell on her and she gave a slight shrug of the shoulders when she spoke about her being cautious of them and she wanted to laugh, but she thought it might of been rude in that case so she held it back she looked up at her. Now pondering her own thoughts, Charlotte would wonder if she would have done the same if she came to her house and spoke about her her son died by death eaters. Charlotte would of felt just the same, but would of been suspicious enough to look down at her arms just to see. Her mind came back to earth when she thought of a way to respond, "It's truly fine. I would of done the same if I was in your position. I see there is a sign about what is too happen in the future. Even with Hogwarts that's what surprised me the most. Never before have I doubted sending my daughter there..." She only nodded at the last part. Not really sure how to respond to what she said. Following her gaze towards her she only nodded, "I would be able to hear yelling back if they were. But it is always something I worry about..." Charlotte was deep in thought now, would her daughter actually be smart enough not a pick a fight with someone that loudly, that she could fight quietly without anyone's knowledge. Her gaze went over to the house elf and she nodded slightly, slowly taking her cream eyes off the elf to her, nodding she opened her mouth, "Yes... they are probably hungry." And with that she headed off to where they left Blaise and Ariana.

Blaise wondered if he had been obvious that he didn't want to have them over, and that he was annoyed with his mother when he opened the door. True that he was attempting to be on better behavior than usual, but his mother didn't make it easy on him, telling him a long time in advance and failing to remind him shortly before the actual dinner. So Ariana had noticed. But as long as her mother didn't, or at least didn't say anything to his, then it didn't make that much difference. “Well it was true. Nothing personal,” he added, which was a big step for Blaise because it meant coming close to a compliment. A compliment, nearly, as it meant that he didn't dislike her as much as he would get her to believe. “I don't like company in general. My mother's brand of company especially... She normally invites the high class, to compare our lifestyles. I would rather be alone.” Once he moved out on his own he was sure that he wouldn't have that many visitors. And he wouldn't make excuses for being antisocial, either. Without his mother to watch over him constantly Blaise would just be himself. He knew that he was better than other people. He didn't need to dress up his house and make the servants prepare dinner to prove it.
He tilted his head up to the ceiling in thought. “I could go outside... but there wasn't a lot that I could do out there anyway. Reading a book or something. But if anyone were to come near the house I was sure that my mother would rush out and separate us in case it was a spy for either side.” He didn't have a lot of close friends but there were some that he wouldn't have minded visiting or having come over. With the disgrace that had come upon the Malfoy family his mother was more hesitant with them than she was in the past. To deal with Death Eaters was dangerous. To deal with disgraced Death Eaters was just asking to become a target. Still, Blaise would have liked to have someone to talk to at least a little bit. Maybe, he reasoned, he should have been happy to have someone his own age come over for dinner. He had been rude already though now they seemed to have reached a more even ground. “We have the same problem... I bet that right now they're discussing how to 'protect' us better.” He scowled. And then, the thought of getting married just to escape his mother seemed a little silly. He wondered if it would work. She might make him move into this house with whoever his bride was, unless he married a muggle or muggleborn which was completely out of the question for his morals anyway. Or she would make him visit all the time as though he'd never left home. The way he saw it, he was stuck until the day that one of them died!
Desideria nearly glowed with pride when Charlotte said that. Her Blaise had been impressive in his exams ever since the first year. Another sort of mother would have considered why it was he had so much time to study, but Desideria's pride overshadowed her concern. Blaise was antisocial at home, but of course he couldn't be that way at school. He was a good-looking boy like his mother had been an attractive young lady in school, he was probably a magnet for all sorts as she was. “Blaise probably did earn more O.W.Ls than a lot of the student body, but I don't know if he got more than everyone. I certainly thought that he would get the basics only.” Academics had always been beyond her. She was an intelligent woman and knew how to use her knowledge in the real world. School was different than that. She hoped Blaise and Ariana both realized it.
“I think that having too much excitement will make the studies more difficult,” Desideria said with a light shrug, not letting on her thoughts of the academic world aloud. “If Blaise has trouble finding a decent job after all is said and done, I won't let it go quietly.” She wouldn't stand up to the Death Eaters of course. She wasn't as stupid as the Order, and she didn't care what happened to people who were such idiots. She couldn't waste her time thinking about anyone other than those she already did, especially when they were muggle sympathizers. Desideria didn't speak in reaction to Charlotte's worrying about the fighting. She was sure that Blaise would create a scene if anything was tried, if only to show his mother that he was right about inviting people over. As it was, she was pretty sure that things were alright. She nodded softly and followed the other witch to where their son and daughter were, smiling graciously for her guests.
When Ariana's mother came, Blaise's own mother not far behind, Blaise didn't know what to think. He was hungry no matter how he tried to deny it but he was also actually pleased with how the conversation was going. He had found someone who he could relate to even in the most minute of ways. He almost said something to Ariana about it when he realized that it definitely wasn't in his nature, and he just raised his brows at his mother. “Have the house elves finally gotten around to it?” he asked conversationally. Desideria knew that he was masking some irritation and sarcasm but she ignored it. “That's right. I am terribly sorry that I made you wait so long. Don't worry; the next time that you come here, we'll have a new staff.” She glared toward the direction of the kitchen, then swept her arm out to get the others to follow her. The seating arrangement didn't leave room for the usual conversation because in true rich fashion the table was long and with four seated, they were not in the best conversational distance. Blaise decided to complain to his mother about this later, too, though the arrangement had been something he'd praised in the past. The one time that he wanted conversation, it wasn't possible. For Desideria's part it gave her the chance to think through all that they had talked about this night. She couldn't tell from the way that the two looked when they found them whether or not Blaise and Ariana had gotten along. She might have to look into other possibilities, though Ariana was so promising.
