As soon as he bent to try and pick up Ginny again, the horcrux moved the image to pick up the wand and return to it's spot, twiddling the wand in it's fingers as it watched Potter desperate to move her and saying nothing. The desperation, awareness that the danger was high was delicious to be quite honest and it recalled vague memories of enjoying such times before, dragging out the moments before death. As the boy looked at him again and saw the wand he distracted Potter by saying "It won't come until called." Watching him carefully, the sweat and dirt on his forehead and cheek it was hard to understand why someone this....worthless had managed to defeat the most powerful wizard of all time and yet....the girl had told him much about Potter.

Harry was becomming more and more confused with each passing second. How did this Tom boy know about the basilisk? He looked up to ask him and saw his own wand in Riddle's hand. Abandoning the unconscious Ginny for now, he slowly got to his feet and took a step forward. "Give me my wand Tom."
Things were slowly starting to click for him now and the fact that this mysterious older boy was now holding his wand, which rendered Harry defenseless in such a dangerous place, was starting to freak him out just a little.

It was, in a way, like watching a pocket watch gears work. You could almost see the little thoughts connecting, clicking over against other ones as realizations began to come into the boy's mind. Slow thinker that he was, he started to fear. "You won't be needing it," he said with satisfaction waiting for the natural conclusions to come to his victim. "I've waited a very long time for this," the image said, "The chance to see you. To speak with you. " The image opened it's jacket and put Harry's wand in an inside pocket out of the boy's reach and then closed it with finality and walked over closer. "We'll talk now."

More things began clicking with a dizzying rapidy so much so that Harry was questioning his own intelligence to not have suspected something earlier. As the figure walked closer to him, he almost took an automatic step backwards but forced himself to stay strong, rooted to the spot.
Struggling to maintain a cool composure and calm tone he asked desperately with a glance towards Ginny again, "What happened to her? How did she end up like that?"

Given a straight line to one of the key points he wanted to make on his enemy, something to disturb him even more, the horcrux could hardly resist the opening. The image said "Well that's an interesting question actually," and looked down at her with a possessive look, it's eyes' flaring a bit. "And quite a long story actually. I guess the real reason Ginny Weasley is like this is because she opened her heart up to an invisible stranger."At the look on Potter's face he continued without pause. "My diary. Ginny has been writing in it for months, pouring out all her secrets, her fears, her woes..." he glanced back up at Harry meeting his eyes. "How her brothers tease her, how she ended up with second hand robes and books, and how she doesn't think the all powerful Potter will ever look at her the way she wants." He took a step around her so that Ginny's body was between them, circling without ever letting his eyes off Potter's face like a predator. "It's very boring listening to the secrets of a little girl, but I was patient and wrote back. Oh Tom, no one has ever listened to me like you do..." he mimicked her voice nastily. "If I do say so myself, Harry, I've always been good at getting people to trust me. And her secrets were just what I wanted. As she gave me her soul, I took it in, getting stronger on her weaknesses. I grew powerful enough to start feeding her some of my little secrets." He laughed a cold hard laugh which echoed well in the underground temple.

Harry's eyes flickered from Ginny to Riddle repeatedly as the older boy told the story. If he wasn't so mad at this Tom Riddle kid, his cheeks definitely would have flamed up, mortified, at the comment about how Ginny didn't think he would ever notice her, just like they did with Lockhart's stupid singing gnomes or whatever they were.
He felt his fists clench painfully tight as Riddle began circling him like prey and mocking Ginny. Though he was more angry than scared at this point, he had to admit that that laugh gave him the chills. It almost reminded him of another voice, though he couldn't quite pin whose.
Still, he had to get past that and get himself under control enough to keep talking, to fill in the gaps that remained. "What do you mean?" He listened intently, then let out a horrified, "NO!"

"have you not guessed yet Potter? Ginny Weasley opened the chamber of secrets. She killed the roosters. She painted the signs for me. She set the serpent of Slytherin on the victims and the squib's cat." As the boy let out a one word horror he grinned for the first time and leaned closer his eyes' intent on his chosen prey. "Oh yes. She didn't know what she was doing, of course, It was very amusing. You should have seen her diary entries then."The horcrux cleared the image's throat. "Dear Tom, I think I ma losing my memory. I can't remember what I did tonight but there are rooster feathers all over my robes. Dear Tom, Percy keeps telling me I'm pale and not myself. There was another attack today and I can't remember where I was. I think I'm going mad, Tom! I think I'm the one doing it!" He watched the boy's horrified face with pure enjoyment as time passed, wasting away Harry's chance to save Ginny and making his enemy stronger. "It took a very long time for Ginny to suspect her precious diary and then she tried to get rid of me." He leaned back now, still watching the boy's body language; he was not impressed so far as the child was easy to lead on, easy to see the reactions, easy to read like a book. "And that's where you come in, Potter. You were the one I wanted to talk to the most. Imagine my thrill when I found you were the next one writing to me..."

Harry couldn't believe what he was hearing. Ginny had been the one who set the snake on Justin and Nearly Headless Nick and Colin and Mrs. Norris and...and Hermione? No. He shook his head, trying to clear it of the jumbled thoughts but Tom kept going, making it impossible to make sense of anything.
Finally Riddle stopped talking. Harry raised his eyes to meet the taller boy's ones and asked simply, "And why did you want to meet me?" He risked a glance at Ginny's body on the floor between them. She had no color left in her usually rosy cheeks which made a startling contrast to her hair which was fanned out around her head on the wet stone floor.

"You see, Ginny told me about you. Your whole fascinating history," the horcrux said, the images' eyes fastening on the scar and growing hungry looking. The information he needed was in this boy's head so close.. Unfortunately, although he could see many things, the Dark Lord had never invented a spell for ripping the information from someone's brain, only reading it. Which was a real shame. It would have been so much easier with some people. He continued, explaining slowly so the boy could manage to keep up. "I knew I had to meet you, talk to you if I could. So I decided to show you my memory of the famous capture of the oaf Hagrid---"

Harry's anger was rising again. He would have reached up and flattened his bangs so that his scar wasn't visible as Riddle was clearly staring at it, but that seemed a childish thing to do so he settled for just clenching and unclenching his fists rythmically...that is until Hagrid was mentioned.
His spine stiffened and he didn't even wait for Riddle to stop talking this time before interrupting hotly. "Hagrid's my friend! And you framed him, didn't you?" He was liking this Tom Riddle less and less as time wore on. Again, his actions reminded him quite strongly of someone else he knew, or vaguely knew but still couldn't pinpoint exactly who.
Boy is he going to feel stupid when it becomes obvious.

The horcrux laughed through the image, again the high laugh which was so cold. "It was my word against his, Harry. Imagine how it looked to Dippet. On one hand, the Prefect poor but brilliant, parentless but brave and a model student. On th other the clumsy oaf who sneaks out of the castle to wrestle trolls and tried to raise werewolf cubs under his bed. " He tilted his head slightly to one side as if studying a particualrly interesting bug before he stepped on it. "i must admit I was surprised it worked so well. It took me years to discover the secrets of the Chamber and a lot of head work it was. Surely no one would have thought Hagrid had the brains for something so complex. Only the Transfiguration teacher, Dumbledore, thought he was innocent and got Dippet to keep him on as a gameskeeper. he was always nosing around, keeping an eye on things."

Harry's jaw was beginning to hurt from being clenched so tightly for so long but it relaxed a bit as he smirked right in the memory of Tom Riddle's face. "I bet Dumbledore saw right through you." He was proud of the school's then-transfiguration teacher, now-headmaster and would stick up for him no matter what.
He looked back to Ginny momentarily and felt a flutter of panic. She seemed to have very little life remaining in her and this was also evident in how strong the figment standing before them was becomming. He looked back up into those cold, unfeeling eyes, and narrowed his own.

A flash of irritation passed over the image momentarily and was gone. It was hard to have even see it really, but the Horcrux was beginning to think more clearly and stronger as the image solidified. Soon, it would be one no more. "Well he did keep an annoyingly close eye on me after that. I knew it wasn't safe to open the chamber again while I was there, even though Hagrid was expelled."He breathed in, almost tasting the smells in the air a long lost pleasure of life. "I made the diary to keep my memories alive so that someone one day might start again what I began and rid the school of the unworthy. Slytherin's noble work."

Harry raised an eyebrow smugly. "Well you haven't finished it this time either. In a few hours the mandrake juice will be ready and everyone who was petrified will be ok again." His spirits soared at this plain, simple thought. Hermione would be fine. He, however, might not be. He pulled his thoughts back to his present predicament, trying to think of a way out and coming up blank.
He had no wand and couldn't even hope to lift Ginny on his own. Maybe he could distract Riddle long enough to lunge at him and try to get back his own wand by force. Even as he was thinking this, he knew it was a stupid idea. For one thing Riddle was taller and probably a lot stronger, even if he wasn't a completely formed person yet.

"Haven't I told you that killing mud bloods is no longer my main interest? For months now my new target has been you." He stared in the boy's eyes, saw he had Potter's full attention now. "Imagine how angry I was when next it was opened and she was writing, not you? She saw you with the diary and panicked, thinking I would spill all her secrets to you."He shrugged slightly. "She waited, the little brat, and stole it back from you. but by then it was clear to me you were on the trail. And with the whole school buzzing about you being able to speak to snakes it was only a matter of time till you found it as well. So I made her write her own death and come down here to wait." A smile grew on his face again as he was starting to look not so black and white anymore, more fleshed out with every passing minute. "She cried and resisted, but i won because there is very little life left in her. Boring. Enough life however for me to leave it's pages on my own and wait for you to come here. And finally as I have many questions for you, Harry Potter."
